This giant silver coin is the 10 kilo version of the 2014 Lunar Horse. The coin is part of the Lunar Series II which is based on the Chinese Lunar calendar. In Chinese tradition, every year a different animal represents the characteristics of the person born within this period. People born in the lunar year of the Horse are said to be powerful, wealthy, respected and popular. The lunar calendar features exactly 12 annual cycles, beginning with the Lunar Mouse and ending with the Lunar Pig. The Lunar horse is the seventh coin of the second Lunar series.

Lunar Horse design
The silver Lunar Horse features its own unique design which differs from the gold version of the  Lunar Horse. The silver version of this coin features two horses standing by a lake to take a sip of water before continuing their journey.  The flipside of this coin is the same and constant feature for every coin in the Lunar series both silver and gold; it holds the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as information regarding the fineness and nominal value of the coin.

The Lunar Series II
The end of the first Lunar Series marked the beginning of the Lunar Series II. Back by popular demand, the Perth Mint branched out its Lunar range to include a silver edition as well as minting the coin in other weights. Alongside the ever popular 1 Troy Ounce version, the Lunar Horse is available in larger weights which include 2 oz, 5 oz and kilo coins. All silver Lunars have been minted to the highest standard  with a purity of 99.9% silver.
